We have for many years believed that the most important resources in any organisation are the people.
By using our Coaching Cycle in combination with rigorous Theory of
Constraints (TOC) techniques, we have a proven capability to help leaders focus, gain clarity,
manage change and get the best from themselves, their team and their organisation.

The Flight Crew
Central to our leadership approach is the creation of 'Flight Crew' teams which oversee
the leadership strategy at all levels and ensure that the strategy and any necessary changes
are understood, accepted and implemented throughout the organisation, so that all personnel
are working towards the overarching goal.
There is an all-pervading assumption that measuring each and every part of the organisation
as if they are independent of each other will both drive performance and give a global
picture as to the well-being of the organisation. This is an erroneous assumption.
In organisations where the use of local optima measures is promoted there appears to be no
real connection between what one part of an organisation might do and how that integrates
with the overall objectives. The creation of Flight Crews guards against this
counterproductive 'Silo' mentality by coordinating the way people are able to make aligned
decisions and thus an aligned contribution to the goal of the organisation. The broad structure
is shown below.
Once the overall goal of the organisation and the necessary conditions for achieving that
goal have been determined, the Flight Crews are deployed, with responsibility for the
implementation of change programmes and ensuring that they continue to deliver to the
bottom line. This is where we use the focusing power of the TOC Thinking Processes through
our Leadership Master-Class programme to ensure that any such change leads to substantial
bottom-line impact.
The Flight Crews are responsible for the Strategy and Tactics directly under their control
and can bring into their respective crews whatever skills are needed, when they are needed.
Flight crews evolve over time, people will join, and others leave, depending on the tasks
and the individual skills required. They are a dynamic structure within the organisation.
Consequently there is alignment of decision-making throughout the organisation, a real and
effective pathway for communication in both directions, up and down, thus creating the
culture of engagement and contribution so many organisations seek today.
We have worked with companies creating flight crews for operations, supply chain and project
management. Via our Leadership Master-Class they are taught the
application of the TOC Thinking Processes such that they can maintain the progress of the
organisation towards its goal.
